Seniors Lift Dodsworth Trophy

The lads got their 2022/23 season off to a winning start and grabbed a little silverware at the same time. In the season opener at New Earswick the lads beat Yorkshire 125-116 to retake the John Dodsworth Trophy back.
There was one change to the selected line up as Stanley’s Brian Houghton was N/A so Durham’s Malcolm Robinson moved up to the skips role with Darlington’s Alan Stephenson coming in at three.
Despite trailing for most of the game the lads dug in to fight back from 20 shots down at the fifteen end mark to over turn the deficit and run out winners by 9 shots overall.
Across the green it was an even spilt – three up and three down, the pick of them being Houghton’s Dale Oram’s quartet of the Darlington duo Graham Peacock and Stan Blewitt plus Durham’s Jimmy Hutchinson who ran out 30-13 winners.
The two sides meet again in the EIBA Senior’s Liberty tie in November.
