Liberty Trophy Result v Lincolnshire

Well it was a case of GroundHog Day as the lads made the trip to New Earswick to face Lincolnshire in the Liberty last eight. Last season we got home 115-104 this time the lads ground out a 119-104 win.

Only one change to the team which beat Yorkshire saw Hartlepool’s Matty Ray come in for the unavailable James Sneller

Across the green we actually won on five of the six rinks. The pick out squad was the all Viper rink of Josh Halcrow, Stewart Hubbard, Chris McGready and Josh Minto who built up a 18-5 lead against former World Indoor Champion Billy Jackson which ensured we had some sort of a lead throughout the game, Minto eventually got home 25-17. The Vipers David Bolt steered his rink to a 21-13 win this after trailing 5-0. Gary Farquhar had a right old tussle with Jordan Phillpott, our lads getting home 18-13. On the end rink Stevie Slaughter sneaked over line with a hard fought 19-18 win over Jonathon West. The last two rinks on were left with fourteen shots in their back pockets, on his belated 50^th Liberty appearance team captain Paul Hartley won 19-18 while it was a tough afternoon for Andrew Kirtland’s quartet as an inspired Dominic McVittie inflicted our only loss 25-17.

Overall it was a good team performance, in the semi finals Northampton will stand in the way of another Liberty Trophy final appearance.
