Alan Cooper Tribute & Funeral Details

It is with great sadness that we have to inform everyone that our very good friend Alan Cooper (85) has sadly passed away after a short illness.
Well what can you say about Alan that would done justice to what he has done for Durham County Indoor Bowling Association.
County President not once but twice – 2003-2006 and then again 2016-2018
Took on the Vice Presidents role not once but twice – 2000-2003 and then again 2014-2016 (only lad to do it from two different clubs – Darlington then Great Aycliffe)
Following his first stint in 2006 the County made Alan an Honorary Life Member.
Represented the County Seniors on 119 occasions and is only one of seven players to pass the century mark.
Alan also got the job no one wanted and that was the Competition Secretary role, you need to be diplomatic and have the skin of a rhino both of which Alan had in abundance.
When we sadly lost David Morgan the County were rudderless but Alan managed to steer the ship to safe waters which is testament to the man.
Off the green he was a gentleman, always there for a chat and a laugh despite being a Hull Supporter.
Alongside Norma he was a regular spectator at the Liberty Trophy games and was a keen supporter of the County Young Guns.
The sport has lost another good one and will be missed by many across the County both indoors and outdoors.
It has been a pleasure to know one Alan Cooper – Bon Voyage mate x
